Webinar | World Energy Tour in South Africa
🕥 9h00 – 10h30 ou 16h00 – 17h30
💻 En ligne
South Africa offers one of the world’s most compelling energy stories. As Africa’s second-largest economy and most industrialised nation, it has built an energy system unlike any other in Sub-Saharan Africa – with high electricity access and the continent’s highest energy consumption per capita powering mining, manufacturing, transport and urban life.
• How South Africa overcame severe load shedding while rapidly deploying solar, wind, battery storage and pumped-storage projects
• Eskom’s turnaround and the state of grid stability
• Sasol’s world-leading coal-to-liquids operations and the country’s high CO₂ emissions
• Rising electricity tariffs, refinery closures, and gas supply uncertainty
• Transmission constraints and what’s being done to ease them
• The road ahead: renewables, batteries, transmission expansion, and possible new nuclear capacity
These questions and more will be answered in a conversation between:
– Andy Calitz, World Energy Laureate, World Energy Council
– James Mackay, Chair of the South African Member Committee (Energy Council of South Africa)
– Vasanie Pather, Senior Manager, Project Delivery, Energy Council of South Africa
