(*) Emmanuelle Garinet is Vice President, Exploration Africa at TotalEnergies, based in France.

With nearly three decades of experience in the oil and gas industry, Emmanuelle has established herself as a leader in exploration and strategic transformation. Her career began in 1997 as a geophysicist, with assignments in France, Norway, and Angola, where she played a key role in several major offshore discoveries.

Emmanuelle’s leadership journey has taken her across Africa and the Americas, from managing exploration teams in Gabon and Nigeria to leading regional exploration activities in South America, including successful entries into high-potential licenses in Guyana, Suriname, and Brazil. In 2020, she was promoted to Vice President, Strategy, Planning, Portfolio & Performance in Exploration, and since August 2021, she has overseen all exploration activities in Sub-Saharan Africa for TotalEnergies. Under her guidance, the team has delivered significant results, including the landmark Venus oil discovery in Namibia, and continues to drive innovation and growth in the Orange Basin and beyond.

Beyond her technical and strategic expertise, Emmanuelle is deeply committed to advancing gender diversity and supporting the next generation of women leaders in energy. For three years, she led the women’s mentoring network at TotalEnergies in Pau, a vibrant community of over 300 members, and she continues to mentor and empower young female professionals across the industry.

Emmanuelle holds a Master’s degree in Geological Engineering from the Geological Institute of Nancy and a Master’s degree in Geophysics from IFP School in Paris.
