DESCRIPTION:When Spain and Portugal experienced a widespread blackout on the 28th of April 2025\, it raised urgent questions about the resilience of Europe’s interconnected power system. The disruption across the Iberian Peninsula — with limited spillover effects in neighbouring regions — highlighted how closely interlinked national electricity systems have become\, and how the rapid growth of renewable generation is reshaping system dynamics\, increasing the need for flexibility\, balancing capacity and real-time coordination. In a continent moving rapidly towards renewable integration and deeper cross-border coordination\, even short-lived interruptions can carry significant economic and societal implications. \nThe incident serves as a timely reminder that energy security and system stability remain foundational to Europe’s energy transition. What exactly happened? What vulnerabilities were exposed? SUMMARY:SPLEEN Days for Industrial Decarbonisation
DESCRIPTION:Research and development (R&D) has a major role to play in supporting the decarbonisation of French industry and the development of national industrial sectors for decarbonisation solutions. This is a fundamental challenge\, given that industry is responsible for around 20% of France’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The National Low Carbon Strategy aims to reduce industrial greenhouse gas emissions by 35% by 2030 and 81% by 2050\, compared with 2015 levels. \n\nThe PEPR SPLEEN aims to implement a structuring research programme to transform industrial processes to make them less greenhouse gas-emitting. Its aim is to encourage and support upstream research activities in the TRL 1-4* range\, in line with the priorities defined as part of the national “decarbonisation of industry” acceleration strategy for France 2030. It is managed by CNRS and IFPEN\, memberof the Conseil Français de l’Énergie \n\n⚠️ This event will be conducted exclusively in English. \nThe annual PEPR SPLEEN days returns in 2026 with a resolutely international focus. DESCRIPTION:[ Ambassadrices de l’énergie – Dialogue ]  Pour le prochain rendez-vous « Ambassadrices de l’énergie »\, espace de dialogue informel avec une dirigeante du secteur de l’énergie\, notre secrétaire générale Marie-Line Vaiani et le groupe des jeunes professionnels (YEP France) échangeront jeudi 19 mars à 19h00 avec Catherine Lagneau\, Présidente-directrice générale du Bureau de recherches géologiques et minières (BRGM). \nCatherine Lagneau témoignera de son parcours (*)\, de son goût pour le secteur de l’énergie mais aussi de sa vision de la transition énergétique et des moyens de l’accélérer dans une approche équilibrée au sens du Trilemme de l’énergie du Conseil Mondial de l’Énergie (sécurité énergétique\, équité énergétique\, soutenabilité environnementale). \n(*) Ancienne élève de l’Ecole normale supérieure de Paris\, où elle a été diplômée en mathématiques appliquées à la finance\, puis formée à l’Ecole des mines en Business et administration publique\, Catherine Lagneau a intégré en 2007 la Direction régionale de l’industrie\, de la recherche et de l’environnement (DRIRE) de Lorraine sous l’égide de la Préfecture.\nEn 2010\, elle parfait son expérience du monde économique lorrain en rejoignant la Direction régionale des entreprises\, de la concurrence\, de la consommation\, du travail et de l’emploi\n(DIRECCTE)\, qu’elle quittera en 2012 pour devenir directrice adjointe de l’Ecole des mines d’Alès.\nDepuis 2017\, Catherine Lagneau occupe le poste de directrice déléguée de l’Ecole des mines de Paris. Elle a en outre intégré le Conseil général de l’économie au Ministère de l’économie et des finances. Elle s’y occupe notamment de la gestion du corps des mines et du suivi des carrières\, tout en étant ambassadrice ETI (entreprises de taille intermédiaire) auprès du ministre délégué à l’industrie.\nCatherine Lagneau a également participé à la rédaction du rapport sur la Haute Fonction Publique remis en 2020. Elle a été administratrice de Bpifrance de 2020 à 2023.\nLe 13 juillet 2023\, sur proposition du Conseil d’administration\, Catherine Lagneau est nommée par décret ministériel présidente du Bureau de recherches géologiques et minières (BRGM)\, en remplacement de Michèle Rousseau. DESCRIPTION:Réunion mensuelle des Young Energy Professionals avec l’intervention d’Oliver Plantet (DGE) :\n« Comment développer des filières stratégiques et réduire nos dépendances industrielles dans le secteur de l’énergie : photovoltaïque\, éolien en mer\, batteries… ? » \nLe programme Future Energy Leaders du Conseil Mondial de l’Énergie rassemble une centaine de jeunes appelés à être demain des acteurs clés du secteur de l’énergie.\nEn écho à ce réseau international\, le Conseil Français de l’Énergie\, comité français du Conseil Mondial de l’Énergie\, a créé les YEP – Young Energy Professionals\, amenés à interagir avec les jeunes d’autres pays.\nCe collectif offre aux jeunes professionnels de l’énergie ou aux étudiants avertis en fin de formation une plateforme pour débattre des questions énergétiques pertinentes\, rencontrer les acteurs d’aujourd’hui et développer des projets propres. Ce sont aussi des occasions de réseautage et la possibilité de participer aux activités du Conseil Français de l’Énergie (groupes de travail\, interventions lors d’évènements…).
