SUMMARY:Marginal pricing and the energy crisis:  Key issues raised by the current price formation approach and possible alternatives
DESCRIPTION:The recent energy crisis triggered by the conflict in the Middle East has revived the longstanding debate on the relationship between gas prices and electricity prices\, as well as whether the current market pricing mechanism based on marginal bids within the merit-order system remains the most appropriate approach.This conference will examine the issue from two complementary perspectives. First\, recent research exploring alternative approaches to electricity price formation will be presented.
